Cloth Diapers… Who would have thought?

I can’t believe that I have even thought about this, but I am going to be buying Lily cloth diapers. But they aren’t my momma’s cloth diapers that she padded my booty with years ago. No, these are hip, cool, easy for on the go moms like me diapers. They are soooo cute! Can’t wait to get mine in from Baby Blossom Designs.  Take a look, you can get them in solids or prints.

The even better part to me is that it is going to save me literally $1000s of dollars over the next few years that Lily will be in diapers. The typical family needs 12-18 cloth diapers for a baby and they come in small, medium and large. Lily is already going to be in mediums and she can wear these till she is like 25 lbs. if I remember correctly.

They have a liner inside that you must stuff them with and then you can take them apart for easy drying. I am soo excited about this. I’ll keep you updated on how they work once I get them in.

Here are some more pictures of Lily, my brother took these. He has started his own photography business so if you’re interested in pictures visit his website.

Busy Fog

I’ve been so busy I’m pretty much in a fog. Last week was VBS at church so that took up most of my time. Yesterday, I went up to the church and finally cleaned and organized what used to be my office with a couple of other ladies. That was a relief to get that done. Now, I’m also trying to work on all the new and exciting things going on with my ministry. My ministry is finally starting to make sales with my products on my site. I have sold a couple of things every week for the past 4-5 weeks or so. All of this money though is going straight back into the ministry. I know this is just how things are going to be for a while. At least I’m able to pay expenses I guess.

But, here’s what’s coming up. I have 1 maybe two bookings in July to speak. Then, I”m also starting Mom-Daughter Connection Radio Show which launches on July 3. I’m so excited about this. You’ll be able to download the shows as an MP3 right off of the website bi-weekly. These are done as a podcast. How neat huh?

I’m also excited about finishing up a friend’s website for her today. It is a scrapbooking site and I highly recommend her scrapbooking services. Check out Scrappin Sisters for your scrapbooking needs.

Sweet Little Baby Girl

Lily

This is a brand new picture of my sweet baby girl, Lily, taken yesterday after her bath. Yes, she has a LOT of hair and I was trying to see how much it would stick up! :) I am so blessed to have this sweet little one. She is the most alert child everyone says and she is calm, cool, and collected. So far, she seems to have her daddy’s laid back personality over my more “drama queen” type. I think she has my big eyes though and definitely my nose, no doubt. She and her big brother both have that! Anyway! I just wanted to show her off! She is now 3 months old and at the last checkup over a month ago now she weighted 11lbs 11 oz. I’m sure she has more than surpassed that now, we’ll find out soon we go back on July 17. Until next time,

Stumbled upon…

While surfing the net today, (one of my favorite things to do as you can see from yesterday’s post), I found this website, Faith Lifts. I am really enjoying it and I have added my blog to their list since I am a woman of faith. You can see the link to it in my sidebar. I am enjoying reading the many, many blogs out there by others of faith as well. For instance, Glass Half Full, by a mom of two little boys she shares how her cups overflows with love for them. There is also Lovely Things, an absolutely lovely site by a gal who does scrapbooking like posts. It is nice and refreshing to actually find blogs where people share their faith. After finding so many other types of blogs lately, some of which are just sickening to say the least. I am thankful to have a place to write, share, and event VENT sometimes, but I would never use my blog to curse, rant, or blaspheme. As the old saying goes that is just “showing your oats” or is that “sowing you oats”? LOL, I don’t even know the saying. How funny is that?

Introduction

Me and Baker

Though I already write a blog weekly on my ministry website and I am a writer for the Christian Living section of Two Moms in a Blog I thought it’d be fun to have a fun blog, just about life, life from my laptop that is. Though many of my family and friends are unaware, I am a self-proclaimed Internet Junkie. I must confess, My name is Alyssa and I am an Internet Junkie! My obsession began back in high school. I remember when the Internet first became popular and I first was allowed to get online in school in the 9th grade. It was absolutely fascinating to me. We didn’t get Internet at my house immediately, I remember only getting to be online very limited amounts of time, until I was out of high school, and in college, then my parents got the Internet for me to use with my studies.

I became very engrossed online when I began planning my wedding. I got engaged the summer after I graduated high school in 1999 and had my wedding to plan for the following summer, June 2000. I began researching everything for my wedding online, even booking my honeymoon online. I also connected with other girls out there who were planning their weddings on message boards, in chat rooms and even chatted via instant messengers such as Yahoo Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger. I even got to meet one of those friends when she came near my hometown in 2004 on a business trip with her husband she actually drove 2 more hours south to meet me and come to my home. That was very cool to me!

I have a bunch of online friends, most of which I have never met, though I would love to one day. I communicate with some of them more often than I communicate with people right here in my own town. I really love being able to communicate with people sometimes 100’s or 1000’s of miles away from me. This age of technology that we live in is phenomenal to me. Though, yes, it is a bit scary at times, one can certainly use their own best judgment and make wise decisions regarding who and who not to connect with or chat with online.

The cool thing about meeting people online is something that might sound like well duh, but to someone who isn’t “up on” the Internet age or the connections you can make via the Net, it is true, “they are REAL people.” Sometimes, we can sit in our houses online and chat via instant messengers or chat rooms and feel like that this person is not “real” but in reality they are just like us. To me that is one of the very best parts of life on the Net, life from my laptop, I am connecting with other people who I might have never ever been able to connect with, much less influence.

I am amazed at how I have been able to influence and help others online. You see over a year ago now I took my ministry to girls and their moms to the Net. I bought the domain name beautybydesignonline.com and took my passion for tween and teen girls, their relationships with their moms and God to to the world wide web as it used to be referred to years ago. Now, I am able to send out a weekly ezine with my own devotions, articles, tips and advice to moms of tween and teen girls. One-hundred and eighty ladies actually subscribe to this weekly publication to hear from me. That is wild! But oh so cool!

And soon, I will be broadcasting my very own Radio Show from my tiny little home in small town Mississippi, via the world of internet radio and podcasting. I can even make my show available from Itunes.com . How cool is that? Though I haven’t gotten into it yet, if I wanted to I could even create my own videos for others to watch via Youtube.com . What we fondly refer to as the Internet or the World Wide Web is literally our ticket to the world and reaching it in every way possible, that to me is an amazing opportunity. One that I plan to take full advantage of in every way that I can in the days ahead. So come on along with me on my journey through life, via my laptop.
