Have you heard?

I am one Cool Mom Blogger.  I am honored that Mom’s Talk Radio and Mom’s Morning Show has chosen me as November’s Cool Mom Blogger.  What an honor!  Thanks ladies.

Cool Mom Blogger

I am being sooo bad….at least food wise.

I am being really bad this week, trying to plan meals for the next week or so, and trying to plan meals that I don’t have to make much effort to cook. It seems that my pregnancy lull hits at around 4 pm which is when I’m normally cooking supper.

So, heat and eat or quick meals is the plan for this next week.  I’m glad the holidays are approaching and meals with family will soon take over for a week or so, wheww a pregnant lady needs a break!

Here are my meals, laugh if you must:

Chicken stir fry

Crockpot Chicken and Potatoes

Cheese sticks

Chicken Enchiladas

Burritos

Lasagna and Garlic bread

Chili Dogs and Fries

Sloppy Joes and Tator Tots

Gumbo

Vegetable Soup (homemade not the canned variety, aren’t you proud?)

My Excuses

Well, I’ve been so out of it with my online stuff that I feel like I need an excuse, and so excuses I have.

#1 I found out during Thanksgiving that I am pregnant with a third child. This was a surprise, a blessing in disguise I’m sure, but still, nonetheless has been something new to deal with, along with that comes feeling cruddy, loosing energy and brain cells, somehow I just don’t think as clearly pregnant.

#2 This is the busiest time of year around my house. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s in my family and my church we feel like we’re running a marathon. There are family meals, church events, etc, that seem to go on forever. Project after project is in place at church. I am helping with the Christmas parade float, playing Mary in the Christmas musical and I haven’t even started to memorize my lines and the big night is in less than 2 weeks.

#3 Lily has been sick. She has been congested for what seems like forever, finally took her back to the doctor on Tuesday after I spent Monday afternoon at the OBGYN finding out that everything is ok with the new baby on the way. Low and behold Lily has to have breathing treatments now so that has been a new adventure at our house.

#4 I had a major speaking engagement this week. I spoke at French Camp Academy to the high school students. This was truly an awesome opportunity. The school is an awesome Christian boarding school that is unlike any other place I’ve ever been. I worked at their camp, Camp of the Rising Son in the summer of 1999. I was excited to go back to this place nearly 8 years later.
#5 Not only have I not been online as much I haven’t cooked dinner a single night this week and coming from someone who cooks her family a home cooked meal every night of the week you know I must have a GOOD excuse.

So, there is my list of excuses. I will say this, I may not be “back to normal” until after the holidays. There is just something about this time of year, I enjoy it and I want to spend the time with my family and friends. Also, there is something about this time of my pregnancies that I feel the worst of all and so therefore I don’t feel like doing anything, including my favorite past time of being online. Later on, I’ll spend tons of time online. So, don’t worry I’ll be back to normal soon.

CBC: An Evening Out

Carrie has answered my latest question in our cross blog conversation which was

“What did you see yourself becoming as an adult, as a teenager, and are you where you thought you’d be today?”  over at her blog.  She also gave me a new question -

“If your babies both napped at the same time or if you went out for the evening, what would you do?”

Carrie,

Honestly, I would choose an evening out, preferably alone with my hubby.  Greg and I rarely get much one on one time anymore and this is about to become even less or nonexistent with the third baby on the way.  I love to spend time with him alone, and I prefer a nice dinner and a drive because I like this time to talk to him uninterrupted and for him to talk to me.  It’s nice and it’s what I crave.

One of the things hubby and I would like to do before the baby comes is take a cruise. We’ve been wanting to for several years now and I just told him, we’d better or we won’t get to, even grandparents won’t take care of 3 babies at once.  So, I’m hoping to schedule something for early 2008 before I get too big pregnant to enjoy it.

Now, I for your next question, with all the thoughts of food the last week,

“What is your favorite meal?”

I am really enjoying this.  Thanks for sharing.

Alyssa

Baby Names

Well, Greg and I are sitting here discussing baby names.  I would love for you all to give us some ideas.  We want something that starts at the end of the alphabet because our first born is Baker, our second is Lily and so we need something that starts with a letter towards the end of the alphabet. I’m thinking R, S, or T.  So, shoot!

Oh and here are some other criteria.

1.  We want an old name, possibly Biblical in nature.

2.  We want something short, nothing too long for the child to learn.

3.  We want something simple. Not something with multiple spelling options, it’s just too confusing.

Alright, now fire away.  We have something in mind, however do not want to share just yet! Thanks.

Thankful for life’s little surprises….

pregnancy test Yes, yesterday I blog about healthy babies, at the time unbeknown to the fact that I have baby number 3 to be thankful for as well.  Yes, yesterday after purchasing a pregnancy test I discover I am pregnant.  No, this was not planned, in fact, apparently I am now part of a rare statistic.  I am the 1 in 100 women to get pregnant with an IUD.  Yes, I have a Paraguard IUD that I have had since April.  They are 99% effective, however strangely enough I am in the 1% to get pregnant.  Obviously, it was just meant to be because I believe this could only be a God thing.

I am a little nervous and scared because of the issues that surround or can surround I should say IUD pregnancies.  Yes, some can be perfectly normal while others can have major issues.  I’m praying mine is normal. I have had as I shared yesterday two perfectly normal pregnancies so today I”m praying for a third.  I go to the doctor on Monday.  Another thing that makes me nervous. Out of three pregnancies I will have had three OBGYN’s. Yes, after my son was born that Doctor retired, then after my daughter was born her doctor retired, so now I am on to number three.  FUN!

I’ll keep you all updated….wow … what a surprise…now those of you with three children shed some light on it for me, will I have any sanity left?

Thankful for healthy babies

As I sit here and read the twitters of my friends discussing their children’s breathing problems and talking of nebulizers, I am thankful that my children are healthy.  I have had two very uneventful, healthy pregnancies that resulted in two very healthy, beautiful babies.  My son never got sick till he was almost two years old and even now he and Lily only get an occasional cold or sinus mess.

This is truly a blessing in a world where babies and children suffer so many different horrible diseases and illnesses.  Even so, my babies being here on earth with me for however long a time the Lord wills is another blessing. I have a good friend who lost a baby this year, so I am always reminded to count my blessings.  Thank you Lord for healthy babies that I can love on each day.

Thankful for those gadgets….

Ohh yes, I was tagged by Lynette today to list the web gadgets and other things I am thankful for technologically inspired.  Funny thing is I was going to say my laptop today because this morning I had a scare. My son pulled my laptop cord yesterday really hard and has made it have a short in it.  It will not work anymore so I was without it this morning, when my computer went dead I was just out of luck.  I called my brother though, who is a computer geek and works at a Internet Service Provider, they work on computers too, etc.  He had a spare cord and I went over to my hometown and grabbed it from him, stopping to spend time with him and my mom and grandmother for lunch.  I have been gone most of the day, but hey it was a nice break.

So, I am thankful for my laptop, because I couldn’t work from home without it.

I am thankful for my cell phone, because it keeps me in touch with my friends, we text message often, and my family, I use it to call my mom for free daily because she has the same service provider I do and it’s free mobile to mobile.

I am thankful for  the Internet why of course, I would never have met tons of my online friends or started my business, ghostwriting, or learned so many things that I have.

Alright, let me tag a friend or two…. how about Aurelia, Tishia, and Chele.

One of my biggest blessings - My husband

GregThis is a week where we count our blessings.  A week to be thankful for the things in our lives.  I am thankful for my husband. He’s done so much for me, made so many sacrifices, put my needs, wants or wishes before his own.  He is a fabulous father, a very hard worker, and my best friend.  He is a greater man today than the day I met him and I am thankful for him.

Every day this week I plan to blog about something I am thankful for, if you’d like to do so as well, then blog about it and come back here and let me know in the comments section. I’d love to read your “I’m thankful for…. posts”.
