Let’s think about the seasons and how we can relate the seasons of weather to the seasons we experience in life.  Author Jim Rohn describes for us in his book “The Art of Exceptional Living” that like there are 4 seasons there are four times in our lives that are crucial for us to experience.  (This post contains affiliate links if you make a purchase through these links I will receive a small commission.  Thank you!)

Winter is the time of preparation.  Preparing for what we know will come.  We know that rough times will come.

Spring is the time of opportunity.  After a challenging time, you will face a great opportunity.  It is your duty to take full advantage of the springs when they pop up in life.

The Bible puts it this way:  “Be very careful, then how you live – not as unwise, but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”  Ephesians 5:15-16

In this verse, the word translated time from the original Greek Refers not to a lifetime, but to a season of life or an opportunity.

Remember to make your springs, the springboard to getting where you need to go.  So many times we want to take the easy road, rather than to stay on the narrow path.

We find this in Matthew 7: 13-14, which says:  “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Then comes summer, which is a time of protection.  A time when you reap the benefit of your crops.  This can be a time of joy and comfort, but it can also be a time to be careful.

Just think about when someone gets on a spiritual high or are riding high in life due to financial blessings.  Many times this will cause us to take our eyes off what is important to begin to rely on our own strength and when we lose sight of what’s important we often allow things to take advantage of us.

Remember what the Lord says, I am the vine; you are the branchesIf you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”  John 15:15

Finally, there is fall.  Fall is a time of responsibility.  A time to learn from your mistakes and to celebrate your successes.

We should make the most of the season of life we are in right now. This can be difficult. Often we look around us and we are confused as to why we are in one season of life and yet our friend, coworker, or neighbor is in a different season.  We may long to be in their season instead of our own.

We must remember that we are not the ones in control.  God is in control.  Just like he controls the changing of the seasons we experience here on Earth, he controls the seasons of our lives.

Daniel 2:21, “God controls the times and the seasons. He makes and unmakes kings.” Now the difficult thing about the seasons of life for us are, we know the seasons of life are coming, and there is not one of us will miss them. We know these different things are going to happen to us at some point in our life, but we have no control over when they come.  However, there will be seasons of blessings too.

I love this concept. One of my favourite things is knowing that seasons never stay the same. So if we are in a winter season of life we know that spring is coming and it can give us hope.

God is so good to afford us seasons in weather, and in life. He knows that too much of one can be disheartening, and too much of another can cause us to forget to rely on Him. So, He perfectly puts us on a seasonal course, because of His great love for us. — Good post, Alyssa. Thanks for sharing today. 🙂 ((hug))

I’m so grateful for the seasons and knowing there is a beginning and an end to each of them, with their highs and lows. Really appreciate the parallels you draw here in our own life and how these cycles each hold growth.

Such a great thought on living an exceptional life. God is in control and if we think about the universe, we realize how small we are.

Are we glad that there are 4 different seasons in life and with God?! Makes for an interesting year and hope of the next season only a short time away. God making progress in our lives through each season is encouraging. Enjoyed your insight😉👍
